I arrived in Burbank, cause apparently LAX can be too much and it was closer to where the studio was.
The studio was by Muholland Drive, which was up in the hills off of the 101. The view was amazing and the liquor was plentiful.
Then it was off to eat at one of the many sushi restaurants that were around. We decided on one that was known for having their sushi bought fresh everyday. There were tons of signs behind the sushi bar that said "trust me," which entailed the sushi chef knowing exactly what you wanted by you just stepping through the door.
Then we headed to see Daniel Lanois live at the Vista Theater. His new movie, Here Is What Is, premiered to a packed audience that included Mr. Jack Bauer himself.
The movie was influential in a way that made me believe that I could make movies (thanks to those darling Macs), but I definitely wouldn't be able to come up with a score like the one that was in it.
There were interviews with Brian Eno, Billy Bob Thorton, and hundreds of clips from various studio sessions that Lanois has been involved with, which was amazing to watch. But Levi and I had a few drinks before the show and trying to sit and watch a very long and artistic movie a little tipsy isn't appealing.
It wasn't until my buzz had worn off that I started to enjoy the movie.
So definitely catch this one if you'd like to know more about great producers, but just refrain from a few jagerbombs right before you watch it.

We then decided to hit

and bring our buzzes back. It was just up the street on Sunset and the guys had been there before.
There was a guy nearby wearing a "Keep Austin Weird" t-shirt.
Needless to say it was weird.
The bars here like to kick you out before 2 am. But it was ok for me considering that it was almost 4 am, my time.
I had some awesome footage from the show, but there's an error that keeps popping up.
It's time to eat...
